      Quirks are character…!

by Jc Santa Cruz on 1/27/2026 6:57:56 AM

First off let me say that the ID.4 is an amazing vehicle. It is definitely a luxury vehicle with things like massaging front seats, fabulous entertainment system, excellent pep both around town and on the freeway and a sports car like driving experience on curvy roads. It goes around corners flat. it also has an incredible interior quality both in fit and finish and material choices and color. The quirks are few but definite. They include walk up failure to open the car as soon as the battery in your key fob gets down about 50%. I have also been minorly frustrated by the failure of the available software to download. That has been the most frustrating part of life with the ID.4. Volkswagen says that the software will only download when the car is in motion and driven for a length of time but my driving style is mostly around town and shorter rides. I’ve needed to take the car to a dealership to have previous updates to the software. Everyone who has gotten in the car for the first time is clearly amazed at the look and feel of the interior and the comfort of the seats.…

Feature-rich vehicle ideal for short drives

by Derek on 9/19/2024 2:25:42 PM

This is our first EV vehicle, and it's been a pleasure to own thus far. Getting a charger installed was more affordable than expected, and we received some relief from our electricity provider for getting the outlet installed and switching to a time-of-use plan. The entire move has saved us money overall, and the increases in consumption have been negligible. We have the Pro S trim. It's a great vehicle used by two drivers. We use it for taking the kids to school, going to work, running errands, and making short road trips (under 150 miles round trip). Mapping out chargers is simple not as daunting as anticipated. Quick, smooth, and reactive drive. Has handled incredibly well in slick conditions (will report back in the winter). We have two car seats in the back, and we still have plenty of room in the front (we're tall!). Packed with tech, which is a little intimidating at first, but reliable once you're acclimated. The only thing bothering us is the proximity sensors are a little sensitive when reversing. It's slammed the breaks a couple times while backing out of the garage when we first got it. Overall, the VW ID.4 has been a great family vehicle for us thus far. Plenty of trunk space allows for quick trips. Spending less time and money at the pump has been huge for us. I would recommend the ID.4 to anyone looking for a vehicle to zip around town in. Longer trips are possible, but may require more planning to chart out charger locations.…
